When you are in Downtown Flint and find a parking spot, you are expected to pay to park.
When you pull into a spot, a sensor in the parking space will detect your car. There are also cameras in each parking post that work with the sensor to help activate the timer on your parking space.
From there, you have five minutes to complete the payment process.

It is important to note that a single parking meter serves multiple parking spots.
You need to find your parking space number, enter your space number into the meter, add time to the meter, andpay with either credit card, depositing change or the Sentry Mobile app.
If you are running around and notice you need more time on your meter, you do not need to travel to your exact meter to add more time. All of the meters are connected through an operating system, so you need to find the nearest one, punch in your space number, and add time.
You can also use the Sentry Mobile app to add more time, view open spaces, or even see how much time you have left remaining on your spot.

From Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the maximum amount of time you can park at a meter is two hours. This limit was put in place by City Council to encourage spot turnover, so people will not have to hunt as hard for a spot. However, when you are not in that weekday time window, the two hour time limit does not exist.
Starting in January, if you do not pay for your parking, you will be issued a ticket.
However, tickets will not appear on your car.
The meter will send a notification to the Flint Downtown Development Authority. From there, you will get a ticket sent to you in the mail.
